Description

An interesting part from the ancient mining history. It comes from the Roman's fundations at Cerro de los Almadenes (Otero de los Herreros, Segovia). It was one of the biggest copper fields in Spain. The roman furnaces work during mid first century B.C until mid first century A.C. They had been investigated by Claude Demargue at the 70's . This summer they have been investigated again and the archeologist believe that this type of fournaces are unique in Spain. This is the typical slag from the second part of the process (reduction): cordiform, metallic ocher color and with vacuoles.
